More and more, outside of known quality entities like RGLD and some items that come compliments of really good fundamental research, I find that just trading the GDX is a good way to go. I did this with options lately (once with a manageable loss and most recently for a nice profit off of a buy during the puke fest to HUI sub-480) and still hold the ETF itself in the conservative account.
